Project-Based Learning (PBL) allows students to explore real-world questions in meaningful, engaging and active ways. This workshop will focus on the key components of effective PBL, examples to spark ideas for your classroom and resources to use throughout the school year as you explore this instructional strategy. Teachers will have time to brainstorm appropriate ways to integrate PBL into their classrooms as well as time to collaborate with colleagues around first stages of implementation plans. Dr. Lena Kushnir is a passionate educational leader with 20 years of experience in Jewish education. Lena started her career at Sager Solomon Schechter as a third grade teacher and has spent the last ten years as the lead educator in the roles of Director of Education and K-8 Principal. Committed to helping teachers and schools reach their highest potential for student achievement, Lena provided direct professional development to her faculty and helped individual teachers grow through their individualized goals. For the past year, Lena has been taking her knowledge and expertise to the larger educational community as she stepped into the full time role as an educational consultant. She has had the honor of working with several religious and day schools in the Chicago area, as well as nationally.
